How a homemade product created a family owned business that flourished into a international company.
The three siblings grew up in southern Misouri in a small suburban town. Their mother Tanya was a hairdresser and always had extensive knowledge in hair types and curl patterns. When she passed away from breast cancer at 52 years old, Dennis, Erica and Tani honoured her legacy by starting Empire. They ensured to create a custom product each of their consumers would benefit from.
The Johnson siblings ensured that every ingredient that goes into their formula is organic and chemical-free. Because curly hair is delicate and often lacks moisture, organic, chemical-free ingredients ensures the hair receives the moisture it needs and is never damaged by parabens and sulfates.
The Johnsons knew that not every curl was the same. They decided that instead of creating several products customers could choose from, they'd give them ability to create their own product. This would ensure that every conditioner and leave-in conditioner was unique to the client's hair, and reduce the damage using a wrong product can do. Due to it's booming success, Empire will be celebrating 5 years in 2020.
