Iconic Style Of Henna

by Akira Verma

“ The art of henna has been a passion for me since I was very young. I started drawing with a henna cone when I was only around 16 years old. As a little girl growing up in India, I had seen henna being done tons of times – be it on festivals, weddings, parties or just for the fun. Moving to Canada, never stopped me doing what I always enjoyed. I never really thought I’d be doing this professionally but now I am and I absolutely love it! ”

About The Art

Henna / Mehndi

Natural henna is a beautiful, painless form of body art with rich tradition in various cultures. Henna (also known as mehndi) is produced from the leaves of the “henna plant” . The leaves contain a red dye, which create the radiant red stain on the skin. Leaves are crushed into a fine powder, then mixed with a variety of ingredients such esessential oils, lemon and sugar to create a smooth paste. The henna cone applicator allows the artist to create fine, precise lines. After appling onto the skin, it dries in about 20 – 30 minutes.
